The Orr’s {family}

It was such a pleasure to get to know the Orr family! They are all so much fun and such troopers! It was FREEZING outside for these sweet little ones and they still managed to have smiles on their faces… most of the time;)They are all soo kind and loving. I had never even met most of this family before yet I was greeted with a big hug &  friendly smiles. I felt like I was instantly part of the family. Thank you for allowing me this beautiful opportunity to take your pictures and record this special stage of your lives and for gaining your friendship.

Nice start. It was fun to see my beautiful family in pictures. I hope you did not get the flu from running around Red Butte Gardens in the cold with a certain family I know :) .

We appreciate you helping us at the last minute. We love you!

I am very excited about it!  I always LOVE having the opportunity to record such a beautiful time in peoples lives!

3 helpful tips when photographing children.

I have been asked over and over again for tips on taking good pictures of children. There are so many great things you can do. Today I will share just a few with you that are easy to implement but will bring big results.

     1.Get down at their level- There is so much that can be revealed about your childs world by getting down to their level.  Crawl around with them, play with them, allow them to do what they would like to do rather than feeling like they need to be posed or have nothing in their hands. As you get down and interact with them they feel that added love and excitement. It’s almost as thought they want to give you a tour of their world. It brings a natural excitement and glow into their eyes that will show in the images you capture.

      2.Try not to get a “down to business” attitude when trying to get good pictures of your children. I often hear parents say things like “if you smile and are really good we can go get___ when we are done.” Though bribes or other sly tactics may work for a few minutes it often starts to put a negitive emotion with taking pictures.  If you make it fun for them it will show in the picture. A real sincere smile caught by surprise says so much more than a forced smile or one that came about due to a brib.;)Not that you’d ever do that. hehe *I know I’ve been guilty of this* ooppsss. I’ve changed my ways and have loved the results.

      3.Get upclose! These sweet little features only stay little for so long, enough said.:)

       Fell free to leave a comment and tell us some tips that have helped you to capture priceless images of your children. If you’re just learning and feel you don’t have any tips to share yet, go out and try these then come back and tell me how it went.

I’ve noticed that the best pictures are when everybody is relaxed. Though my husband would disagree, some of the best pictures is when kids are not looking straight at the camera. It just gives a more natural look. So, don’t stress if the child isn’t looking at the camera.
